Argentina – Major Increases in Processing Fees for Immigration Government Services

What has changed?
Effective June 6, 2018, there will be a major increase in government fees for immigration processes. Fees are expected to increase an average of 300%, with some increases of up to 500%.

Who is affected?

Clients who employ foreign nationals in Argentina should increase their budget allocations for immigration to absorb the higher fees for any new assignments or renewals.

What to expect
On May 21, 2018, Executive Decree 475/2018 was published. The majority of processing fees have been increased by 300%. One of the services that saw a 500% increase was that of preferential appointments to apply for transitory, temporary, and/or permanent residence visas. The Argentinean Government states the reason for this increase is to defray the costs of increased investments currently being made in the areas of customer service, enforcement, and border security.
