What has changed
Effective April 6, 2016, Residents of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) will no longer be required to visit the General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) in order to apply for visa services. Residents may now carry out all visa and residency transactions through the new UAE Vision system, introduced by the GDRFA.
Who is affected?
- Residents of Dubai, UAE
What to expect
Visa transactions that may now be completed through the UAE Vision system include, but are not limited to, applying for visas, renewing residency, applying for new residency, and visa cancellation. All transactions can be carried out via approved typing service centers. Approved typing centers will have the Amer logo, which indicates that they have been approved by the authorities to use the new UAE Vision system for visa transactions.
Those applying for visit visas will be issued an e-visa through email, and those applying for resident visas will have their visa sent via Zajel courier service. Applicants will submit all documents through the new UAE Vision system and their status will be ‘in process’ until approval is confirmed by immigration authorities. Applicants will then be notified of the next step via SMS. Once approval is confirmed, the applicants will have to visit the immigration headquarters to get their passport stamped.
Please note there has been no change to the required application material.
