What has changed
Effective November 15, 2015, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) announced that all visa applicants must now submit original documents only for scanning at typing centers. Previously photocopies of some documents were accepted.

What to expect
- All visa applicants submitting documents for scanning at typing centers
In addition to requiring original documents, applicants are recommended to have the following:
- Original passport and Emirates ID of the sponsor
- Original passport and Emirates ID of those being sponsored
- A color photo with a white background of the sponsored persons
- labor contract, labor card, salary letter for those employed in private sectors, free zone and government
- Trade license if the sponsor is a partner or investor
- Original tenancy contract
- Attested birth and marriage certificates, if applicable
- IBAN number of the sponsor (which is now mandatory)
New conditions are applicable to all GDRA branches and typing centers across the emirate.

Please note that currently, there have been delays for processing of all applications with TECOM authorities due to internal changes within TECOM. TECOM is not providing a client update or a written confirmation with regards to immigration changes, if any, and applicants are being notified of any changes once the application has been submitted.
Additionally TECOM has implemented a new restriction where dependent applications sponsored by a female employee will not be accepted by TECOM authorities. The application for the dependent has to be filed directly at the main immigration (DNRD) office/centers.
